The 3D Hook Question

I was asked another "hook" question again, in regards to 3D modeling.

The trick is to not use n-gons (where n > 4) in your model. The best practice still is to use 4-sided polygons only.

Re-textured my Free Trader model, and gave it some scraped-up marks using 3D-Coat 4.8.10, I think. This was rendered in Vue 9.5 Infinite, with some lens glare enabled.

Over Vue Water

Water is usually hit or miss with Vue. But it looks good enough in this render, if you don't look too close at it.

Some Azun

My Free Trader Hexagon model showed up in this Vue Infinite render. So this image will probably appear in the CG Spaceships Community on Google+.

Mapped Asteroids

Thought I'd post something here about my map viewer for Traveller subsector maps. CG has hit the app now.  By that, I mean the planets are not just colored dots anymore. I used Vue Infinite to render various worlds that I could place in the hexes. This morning, I added asteroids to the rendered choices.

Looking at cutting grooves into clouds, to see what sticks. Stretching and pulling fractal terrains that are made of cloud textures.
