It's starting to look like the real deal finally. I want to thank the YouTubers that have been posting videos of their plastic models of this vessel, which motivated me to continue work on my 3D model.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_KZsBBJSuII/YOqFxEj3TAI/AAAAAAAAJHM/g1_KD9tCQH4yFAM7Ae9VRRS_q0wEGZpoACLcBGAsYHQ/s1819/Image2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1170" data-original-width="1819" height="258" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_KZsBBJSuII/YOqFxEj3TAI/AAAAAAAAJHM/g1_KD9tCQH4yFAM7Ae9VRRS_q0wEGZpoACLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h258/Image2.png" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>Shawn Driscollhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05570554975738301255noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3011801016426022603.post-41794018123458725372021-07-09T15:50:00.003-07:002021-07-09T15:50:40.550-07:002001 Discovery One Out of Mothballs<div style="text-align: justify;">After six years, I started continuing work on my 2001 Discovery One model. This is the back end of the ship. I'm guessing the nuclear power part that provides energy and thrust for the vessel. It's way in the back because of the radiation, etc.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">I've been watching YouTube videos showing off this spaceship at 1/144 scale. The plastic model is about as accurate as anything else (see artistic license). So I've been modeling a little bit from the movie and from the YouTube videos.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">My CG model is of course inaccurate because I model things by eyeball rather than from exact measurements. <br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This isn't my work. I just wanted to show someone's CG project over at CGsociety. I only wish there was a wireframe shot to view. It's hard to tell which app was used to make the model. But it all looks good. Eventually, the model will be used in a game engine for renders and animating.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
See it <a href="https://amaruz.cgsociety.org/vxyc/life-hover-2049" target="_blank">here</a>.</div>

One of the very first 3D models I ever made. It was created during my time learning Amapi 7 Designer, Amapi 7.5 Pro, and Moi3D. I had several versions of this guy on my old drives back in the day. I don't remember if I ever finished it or not, or what modeling software I last tested while making edits to this model?</div>

Anyway, here is a front and back.</div>

I gave it a scratched white paint job as a base to lay other details over, using 3D-Coat. It will probably be rendered in Vue Infinite with flames and smoke trails added to it. We will see how it all looks in space.<br />

I just noticed how lo-res this model was without its paint job. But it's good enough for medium shots.</div>
